The technique of recruiting personal investor clients by way of financial newsletter distribution to be followed by phone calls and visits by financial consultants has been used extensively by fund management companies and their brokers and agents, to the extent that this technique may be said to have diminished its pull effect. Consequently, some fund management companies and their brokers decided to team up with seminar companies to recruit investor clients. The interactive and participatory nature of seminars makes them powerful means of convincing their prospects to invest, compared to newsletters that oftentimes never get read by the recipients. The fact that these attendees are willing to pay a certain amount to attend a seminar is an indication that they are indeed interested in investing.
